Bride Song (Poem)

In time for Valentine's Day, I'm re-posting a poem I wrote a few years ago that expresses my Love for Yeshua/Jesus the Christ.
Happy Valentine's Day!

You gaze upon me, such Love in your eyes

Calling me “Beloved,” but what have I done?
I am hated, a loser, a thing people despise
Do I deserve such Love from someone?

~Let me look through your eyes, my beloved
~Let me look through your eyes and know
~What's within me, that you discovered
~Let me seek the Love that you sow
What do you see with your vision so wise?
I feel lifted; my poor sight undone
A Light deep inside as I look through your eyes
A new journey has now begun

~Let me look through your eyes, my beloved
~Let me look through your eyes and know
~What's within me, that you discovered
~Let me seek the Love that you sow

I look through your eyes at the others
Before they were sinful, adrift and just wrong
Now I see the same Light within them
They’ve been the same as me all along

~Let us look through your eyes, my beloved
~Let us look through your eyes and know
~What's within us, that you discovered
~Let us seek the Love that you sow

I share your Love for all others
I reach out my hand without shame
I’ve learned they are sisters and brothers
And God loves each of us the same
~Let us look through your eyes, my beloved
~Let us look through your eyes and know
~What's within us, that you discovered
~Let us seek the Love that you sow

I sing this Song to the whole world

His Love extends far beyond me

Hate or anger need not be hurled

A better life there can certainly be

~Let us look through your eyes, my beloved

~Let us look through your eyes and know

~What's within us, that you discovered

~Let us seek the Love that you sow

For the Feast, guests are excited

The Spirit’s mission is done

Bride and Groom at last united

Now they are truly one

~Let us look through your eyes, my beloved

~Let us look through your eyes and know

~What's within us, that you discovered

~Let us seek the Love that you sow

Brother / Sister no more divided

Basking in the eyes of the Son

Heaven sings; all are delighted

The Promised Kingdom has come

~Let us look through your eyes, my beloved

~Let us look through your eyes and know

~What's within us, that you discovered

~Let us seek the Love that you sow

Christmas with Jesus (Poem)

When we lost my father in 2006, I shared this poem with my mom. When we lost my younger brother, this poem went around the family. I want to share it with my readers too.

I'm Spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this Year

I see the countless Christmas trees,
Around the world below.
With tiny lights, like heaven's stars,
Reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,
Please wipe away that tear.
For I'm spending Christmas,
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs,
That people hold so dear.
But the sounds of music can't compare,
With the Christmas choir up here.

For I have no words to tell you,
The joy their voices bring.
For it is beyond description,
To hear the angels sing.

I can't tell you of the splendor,
Or the Peace here in this place.
Can you just imagine Christmas,
With our Savior, face to face?

I'll ask Him to Light your spirit,
As I tell Him of your Love.
So then pray one for another,
As I lift your eyes above.

Please let your hearts be joyful,
And let your spirit sing.
For I'm Spending Christmas in Heaven,
And I'm walking with the King.

Little Flame (Poem)

I have a little flame
At the center of my heart
I know how it got there
God was the very start
+ + +
+ + +
One little flame
In a vast dark place
One little smile
That won't be displaced
+ + +
Light a flame beside me
Hence there are two
It's now a little brighter
We know what to do
+ + +
+ + +
It could be a smile
Or a helping hand
All the different ways
As countless as sand
+ + +
Pass on a kindness
Or uplifting word
Light another flame
Against this dark world
+ + +
Like little ripples
On the surface of a pond
Little flames alight
When the heart is fond
+ + +
+ + +
 Ever-widening circles
Spread the Light and Love
As our little flames
Reflect the One Above
+ + +
Further and further
Light this shining ball!
One little flame
Can encompass us all
+ + +
+ + +
When the darkness comes
To blow our flames out
There is one thing that
It hasn't figured out
+ + +
+ + +
 Within each heart
A little flame is found
And with a some effort
We can send it back around!

A Medieval Christmas Poem

I had written the following poem in 1996, while I was active Medieval recreationist in the SCA. My persona was from Ireland, thus the point of view in the poem. Enjoy a wee bit of humor in the rewrite of a famous Christmas poem:

____________________________________________________________________

How St. Nicholas Has Enough Toys for the World at Christmas
`Twas two nights before Christmas, and all through the castle
Not a sound was heard, not even a rattle.
When outside the city gates there arose such a clatter.
People sprang from their beds to see what was the matter.
Down at the gates was a man very queer
With an army of elves and many reindeer.
He was armored in velvet, a very bright red
With a white fur trim from his toes to his head.
Drawing his sack, they all charged the gate.
The guards cried out, but it was really too late.
They spilt not one drop of crimson blood,
But flowed through the gates like a red and green flood.
The townsfolk cried out in anguish and fear,
“Saints and begorah! The fay are all here!”
Onto banked fires they all through more peat.
But the elves had ignored them, and headed up the street.
`Twas to the toy-maker’s shop that they drew,
The elves, reindeer and Nicolas Claus too.
They spoke not a word, but went straight to work.
They filled all their sacks and turned with a jerk.
Then with a nod, they all faded away,
Without leaving a footprint behind in the hay.
At last the toy-man got out from under his bed.
He just looked around the room and shook his poor head.
The toys were all gone; new supplies in their stead,
plus a bag of silver, two gold, he came out ahead.
Not understanding the fay who disappeared from sight,
At least they paid him for the toys out right.
And the very next night, good children rich and poor,
Found a brand new toy waiting for them at their door.

Holy Alphabet (Poem)

This was shared with me by email from @worldprayr, and I thought to post it here:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who are fighting their own personal battles, whatever it may be, never give up!

The Holy Alphabet

This is beautiful. Whoever came up with this one must have had some Divine Guidance!

A
lthough things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His
love
Joy would cease to be
Keeping thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
N

O

Desiderata (Poem)

This past week has been a bad week. Not just for myself, but seemingly for many. Whether it is many little things all hitting at once, or a major catastrophe like the earthquake in Haiti.

I was struggling to say something I felt within - about trying to focus on the positive when the negative comes into your life. But I had come to realize, the words were already written. So instead, I present to you Desiderata:

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
Max Ehrmann, Desiderata
